Game of Thrones Season 7

Season Seven of Game of Thrones is truly underway, the second episode seeing the Queens of Westeros make their first moves towards seizing/keeping the Iron Throne. The direwolves in Game of Thrones Season 7 were central figures in the Stark clan; a symbol for each child’s fate as George RR Martin’s book series A Song of Fire and Ice progressed.

Game of Thrones Season 7: But the books remain on ice as the HBO series continues at wildfire pace, with only one more season after season seven concludes on August 28. So what of remaining direwolves’ roles in the television series? A tantalising guest appearance of Arya’s wolf Nymeria in episode two was almost conclusively a farewell for her owner, as fans took to Twitter to grieve.

**Spoilers for the episode ‘Stormborn’ ahead**

One notable scene saw Arya finally reunite with her long-lost direwolf, Nymeria, as teased in the episode’s trailer. Unexpectedly, very little actually happens during the scene; the direwolf’s pack surround Arya, deciding not to kill her after seemingly recognising the Stark. As the animal walks away, Arya comments

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 2

All the biggest moments from ‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 episode 2, Last week at the end of the “Game of Thrones” première, Dany said, “Shall we begin?” This week, the answer was “We shall!” Episode 2 opens on thunder and lightning at Dragonstone. How apropos for our yellow-haired queen of mayhem. “On a night like this, you came into the world,” Tyrion says. He, Varys, Daenerys, Grey Worm, and Missandei are in the Map Room, looking like a bunch of evil geniuses. Dragonstone is quite something: cavelike walls, torch sconces, ghastly, eye-socket-like windows overlooking the dark seas.

There’s a map-covered table dotted with chess-type pieces—“not so many lions,” Dany says, meaning the Lannisters. The Queen and her advisers have a bracing chat. Sure, they could take Westeros, with their dragons and whatnot—but to what end? “You’re not here to be queen of the ashes,” Tyrion says. They talk about transparency, trust, and the nature of government.

The Game of Game of Thrones season 7, episode 2, Stormborn

REVIEW: With the shortened season, Game of Thrones has accelerated the pacing of each episode. Last week’s premiere crammed a lot of development into a single hour and yet somehow the second hour seems to have even more going on. After some teased character development and reappearances at Comic Con this week, tonight’s Game of Thrones did not disappoint with some shippers being very happy, battle lines being drawn, and one help of a twist ending. There was nudity, there was bloodshed, and there were lots of Westerosi playing the titular game. Overall, this was a damn good hour. Let’s unpack what went down south of The Wall.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 2

First off, the various houses of Westeros are drawing their allegiances. Cersei reveals that she has a means to defeat Daenarys and her dragons and sends her new ally, Euron Greyjoy, to intercept his niece and prevent the planned invasion of King’s Landing. At Dragonstone, Daenarys brings together the Tyrells, The Martells, and the Greyjoy siblings to unite in a siege that will begin her attempted reign in Westeros. Daenarys also tests the loyalty of Lord Varys who delivers some of his backstory in such a way that he seems much more formidable than we have ever seen him.

In the end, Daenarys accepts his loyalty but promises to kill him if he betrays her. Daenarys makes the same pledge to the newly arrived Melisandre who delivers the prophecy that the Mother of Dragons will be victorious but only if she enlists the aid of Jon Snow. Tyrion vouches for Jon and sends an invitation for the King in the North to vist Dragonstone which is lucky because we know that Snow needs dragonglass to defeat the White Walker army.

I’m going to address something right now, and then we’re not going to talk about it again for the rest of our lives: it is strange to watch the men tasked with writing Game of Thrones attempt to write intimacy that is not twisted in some way. And so this week’s sex scene between Grey Worm and Missandei was both touching and embarrassing. Grey Worm comparing the feeling of being in love with Missandei with a child’s fear of snakes or the ocean was a clumsy rhetorical choice on his part, and Missandei’s “I want to see you, please” made me want to throw myself off a building. But I’m happy these two kids finally got it together long enough to take it all off.

That’s pretty tragic in its own way, and particularly in the context of this episode. In the excitement of yelling “fire and blood!” at my MacBook every Sunday night, I often forget how deeply, serially sad this show is.

Please don’t say “You are my weakness,” to people! That’s not a good compliment! And we all deserve better in a world where ice zombies and magical fire pirates are possible. There, we did it, our serious discussion for the week. More News

FINA World Championships 2017

The second night of action from the pool at Budapest at the FINA World Championships 2017 featured lots of exciting action. Hungarian Katinka Hosszu delivered a gold medal for the home crowd with her third straight 200 IM World Title. Adam Peaty and Sarah Sjostrom just missed their World Records in their respective events but they defended their 2015 World Titles in the process. Great Britain picked up another gold on the night with Ben Proud in the 50 fly.

The 17th FINA World Championships 2017, are held in Budapest, Hungary from 14 to 30 July 2017. Americans picked up medals from Kevin Cordes (silver) in the 100 breast, Kelsi Worrell (bronze) in the 100 fly and Madisyn Cox (bronze) in the 200 IM.

OLYMPIC 400m freestyle champion Mack Horton is so unrepentant about calling out his Chinese rival Sun Yang as a drug cheat at last year’s Rio Games, that he has done it again leading into the world championships in Budapest.

Two days ahead of their rematch over 400m in Budapest, Horton was asked about his rivalry with Sun, who is defending the world title. The Australian responded: “I don’t know if it’s a rivalry (between us). I think it’s a rivalry between clean athletes and athletes who have tested positive, but there should be some good racing.”

Sun served a secret three-month suspension in 2014 after giving a positive test to a banned heart medication. He had served the doping ban and returned to competition before it was announced that he had fallen foul of the rules.

His Chinese fans created a social media storm in the wake of Horton’s comments at the Rio Olympics and the Australian is still regularly trolled by Sun’s supporters.

The Olympic 200m freestyle champion, who is coached by Australian Denis Cotterell, leads this year’s world rankings with a best of 3:42.16, two seconds faster than third-ranked Horton’s best so far this year of 3:44.18. But Horton, who won the Olympic crown in 3:41.55, warned his rivals not to underestimate him in Budapest. Watch FINA World Championships 2017

He said he felt “relaxed’’ about his prospects for the championships and did not feel the need to redeem himself after a parasitic infection affected his performance at the last world titles, where he won a bronze medal in the 800m freestyle, but missed the final of the 400m and 1500m. FINA World Championships 2017 Live Stream,

He said that experience gave him the mental fortitude to win on the world stage in Rio.“When I think about that 2015 experience, it was more that’s what losing feels like,’’ he said.“I know that if I do lose it’s not the end of the world, so don’t stress, relax, it’s going to be okay. That’s what I took away from 2015.

“I went from the lowest point, hopefully, of my swimming career to the highest and you know what that lowest feels like so you can pretty much deal with anything. Horton will kick off his huge program in the 400m freestyle on Saturday. He will also swim the 200m, 800m and 1500m freestyle and 4 X 200m freestyle relay in the next eight days. News Source

Sharks And The City: Los Angeles

Sharks And The City: Los AngelesSharks And The City: Los Angeles, It’s Shark Week 2017! Shark Week is a special week on Discovery Channel that featured only “shark based” programming.

Shark Week first began on July 17, 1988, and has happened annually since then in July or August. It has grown so much that it’s become a cultural phenomenon, sparking things like Syfy’s Sharknado franchise. Because of this, it has had some detractors saying that the week is no longer educational and mere entertainment, such as Olympian Michael Phelps racing a great white shark last night.

Michael Phelps is the greatest human swimmer of all time, but if you put him up against any random great white shark, he’s chum.

That is, unless he gets a special flipper for his feet that will mimic the function of a great white shark’s tail fin. Which is exactly what he gets in this clip from Phelps Vs Shark: Great Gold Vs Great White, seen here via Entertainment Weekly.

In the special, which kicks off Discovery’s annual Shark Week programming, Phelps will race a great white shark. It’s pretty simple. Unfortunately, he won’t be in the water with the shark, but his numbers will be measured against the shark’s. And this is one race the all-time Olympic gold medal record holder is not favored to win — great whites can swim about 25 mph; Phelps topped out at 6 mph at the height of his powers. So he needs all the help he can get.

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on your television, the Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” and National Geographic Wild’s “SharkFest” are hitting the air with competing daily programming.

Phelps Vs Shark: Great Gold Vs Great White airs the first night of Shark Week, Sunday, July 23 at 8/7c on Discovery.

As director of the Florida Program for Shark Research and curator of the International Shark Attack File, I offer the advice to viewers to cast a jaundiced eye on each episode’s title and premise. Remember, TV show titles and preview teases are constructed to hook an audience.

And they do. Although many of today’s shark shows depict sharks in a more level-headed way than in the past, the networks just can’t seem to put certain stereotypes to rest. But if you want to know more than whether sharks can outswim Michael Phelps, there are ways to watch smartly. News Source

When constructing a decision in fantasy golf and you encounter a crossroads, it’s important to remember the tenet that helped get you there.

Class is permanent.

The Barbasol Championship 2017 is the third of four additional events in the 2016-17 season. Each rewards its winner with 300 FedExCup points, berths into THE PLAYERS Championship, the PGA Championship, the SBS Tournament of Champions and many other exemptions. And in addition to a handsome direct deposit, PGA TOUR status through 2018-19 will be granted.

Despite the attraction for rookies, non-winners and the rank and file, the simplicity of the opportunity also captures the attention of the golfers for whom class is permanent. In our world, I like to label these guys as “One & Done-worthy.”

Jim Furyk is No. 3 in my Power Rankings and I’m stunned that none of my constituents are matching me in selecting the 47-year-old. Not that I’m entirely dismissive of their choices. Daniel Summerhays (Jonathan) and Chesson Hadley (Sean) are also in my Power Rankings at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively, and Scott Stallings (Mark) was a tough omission.

For me, I love that Furyk committed when it became apparent that he wasn’t going to qualify for The Open Championship. Sure, he’s not yet exempt next season, but he could burn consecutive career exemptions that would take him a few months into his age-49 season, if absolutely necessary.

Here’s where I remind you that top 10s are my goals. Seriously, I don’t expect wins. They are bonuses and infrequent at that. It’s a discourse in which I engage with gamers occasionally. Setting a baseline for a wider acceptable dispersion of results enables the decision-making process to work more organically.

Others in the field for whom this thinking can apply include Chad Campbell (No. 2 in the Power Rankings) and David Hearn (No. 7). Depending on your situation, either is One & Done-worthy.

If you’re of the mind to treat this event as a swing for the fences, then look no further than the rookie who sits atop my Power Rankings, Trey Mullinax. That’s what excites me most. Two-man gamers should plug him in immediately.

Elsewhere, I don’t tend to get giddy about up-and-coming talents because experience has persuaded me otherwise, but if Robby Shelton (No. 8 in the Power Rankings) was a stock, he might be my No. 1 tip. Also a product of the Crimson Tide, he carries himself with that confident swagger beholden of special athletes. He’s already been stockpiling results as a pro, too. And with a decent performance at Grand National – he placed T3 as an amateur here two years ago – he’ll qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals as a non-member. He’s in the fast lane, but the machine is a-purrin’ and under control. News Source

It’s not quite as jam-packed as the UFC 214 card on July 29, but it could be a filling appetizer as the promotion heads toward its biggest event of the year. Here are the 10 things you should know about UFC on Fox 25.

The event will be the first that the UFC has hosted on Long Island. Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen middleweight winner Kelvin Gastelum. On May 12, the bout was confirmed for UFC 214. Weidman vs Gastelum Live

UFC on Fox Long Island Main Card

Kelvin Gastelum -175, Chris Weidman +145, Middleweight, Dennis Bermudez -210, Darren Elkins +170, Featherweight, Gian Villante -160, Pat Cummins +130, Light heavyweight, Jimmie Rivera -200, Thomas Almeida +160 Bantamweight

Prediction

The key for Weidman will be eliminating mistakes and playing to his strengths. For Weidman, the optics are not great. Obviously. It’s been more than two years since his last win, and he’s suffered back-to-back-to-back knockout losses. Not a good look for anyone, let alone a former champion.

But as far as Weidman is concerned, that’s all it is: A bad look. It’s not a real indication of his place in the division or an indictment on his future.

“If you watch my last three fights, I was winning all of them,” Weidman said. “I feel the same way now as I did when I was on top, as far as pressure and anxiety. I’ve had a couple bad nights. That doesn’t dictate who I am.

“It’s not like I’ve been getting blown out, where these guys are just on a different level than me. If anything, you could swing the other way and say I’ve showed that I was on a different level, but the fight ended up working out in their favor.” It certainly is possible to argue Weidman’s skid looks worse on paper than it’s really been.

Attempting to play it safe in MMA is far from a smart strategy and can open the door for opponents to outwork you. But Weidman needs to focus on securing the victory in any form he can, even if that means employing a “lay and pray” strategy to limit Gastelum’s avenues to victory. New Zealand have not lost at Saturday’s venue Eden Park in Auckland, dating back to 1944, and are still the firm favorites. But will Warren Garland’s Lions be able to take the momentum and beat the odds? Here’s all you need to know about their iconic showdown against All Blacks.

The All Blacks had to play for almost an hour with 14 men after Sonny Bill Williams was sent off, and they still led by nine points with 20 minutes remaining. It could have been a different story if Beau den Barrett, who scored seven penalties because of the Lions’ indiscipline, had not also missed three kicks.

Even in defeat the All Blacks looked deserving of their status as the world’s best, and they’ve not lost at Eden Park since 1994. It’s not beyond the Lions to win, as they showed last time out, but doing so will be a phenomenal achievement and require the performance to match.

If they are to beat the All Blacks again, they will need to give away fewer penalties, and they will also need another outstanding performance from Maro Itoje. Rugby journalist Murray Kinsella hailed his work at the lineout and his all-round excellence: A similar outing from the 22-year-old is a must if the Lions are to win, but it’s no guarantee.
